Julian Temple Band

Julian Temple Band

“Like the loudest blues band in the world whispering” The Julian Temple Band play music that is down and dirty but full of love for sound. Based in the Deep South of New Zealand, the three-man band smash through the outer edges of most genres, giving their music an abstract form that can’t fit into any pigeon-shaped hole. Troubadour song writing glides through the bluesy-funky-jazzy-punky-psychedelic-groovy-grunge and gets smeared together for some good times and some air time.

Oleh

Oleh

Hailing from sunny Dunedin in the deep south of New Zealand, Oleh (pronounced ‘oh-lay’) is a musician with a difference. Taking influences from dubstep to blues, reggae to swing, and basing his entire solo act around the crossover of electronic and live-instrumented sound; Oleh’s live show is truly something to behold. The music is created entirely on the spot through the use of a Boss RC-50 Loop Station - the looper popularised by artists such as Dub FX and Beardyman. This allows for a full band’s worth of sound to be created live and in sync, capturing and propagating the raw goodness of the music as it is created. Each track is built from layers of live beatboxing, electric guitar and vocal harmonies, and then blended with conscious, meaningful lyrics and dynamic song structures to create a memorable and powerful musical experience.

The Skitzofrantiks

The Skitzofrantiks

Eclectic. Discordant. Melodious. Crass. Inspired by: Indie, Jazz, Metal, Gypsy and Folk music. Established in 2009, The Skitzofrantiks started out as a folk rock Duo but quickly transformed into a fast moving highly energetic three piece band. The band is spearheaded by Scottish front man Liam O’Connell, with all three band members having roles in the songwriting process.

O’Connell started out writing slightly quirky folk rock but when Kiwi drummer and producer Tahne Brown came on board and splashed his influence. The music soon transformed into a “bigger, louder experience” full of well thought out time and mood changes that can slip by the listener with surprising ease. With the addition of “the doctor of split minds”, Ben Armour (UK) the fullness and body lacking was then filled.

Singer/songwriter Ash Officer is joined by Spencer Morgan (bass guitar), Jared Smith (lead guitar and backing vocals) and Simon Barr (drums); their profile has quickly risen in the Dunedin music scene due to their polished performance and universal appeal.

"The bands first selling point is Officer's remarkable voice, which has a gritty, world weary quality rarely found in a singer still in his early twenties...They're confident and assured, strong on tunes and texture in an old-school 70's stonewashed style..."
